According to a recent analysis performed by Kaufman Hall on behalf of the Indiana Hospital Association (read the complete report here), Indiana hospitals are facing financial pressures due to a reduction in Medicaid reimbursement rates and the growing costs of medical services and products.
The report noted that Indiana hospitals had an operating margin of 1.9% in 2025, which was below the national median of 2.6%. State hospitals also had a 5.5% reduction in operating income in 2025, which amounted to approximately $50 million. Without a reduction in operating expenses and changes to policy, many hospitals, particularly in rural communities, will have to reduce or eliminate essential services.
Silverback can help hospitals reduce their expenses so they can continue to provide quality care. We focus on areas such as utilities, medical supplies, office supplies, janitorial services, and laundry services. Silverback will dive into the details of these utility and service bills, make recommendations to save money in each area, and renegotiate contracts for these services.
